How to Choose Suitable Pellet Mill

How to choose the right pellet machine to reduce farming costs?

1. Depending on the different breeding objects and feed formula, such as the feed from pigs, fish, chicken with more beneficiated burden material, you can choose flat / ring mold pellet feed machine, this is because the more concentrated feed, the smaller suppression of resistance, and less power consumption. While processing rabbits and sheep feed, try to use flat die pellet mill. Because the proportion of processed rabbit and sheep feed meal or full meal accounted for over 50% of the total feed resistance when processing a large load is also large, with a rod shaft gearbox flat die pellet mill feed can be resolved load big problem, avoid the choke machine, card machine phenomenon.

2. 4. Feed particles in the pressing process, the temperature of the particles of the machine should be around 60-80 ℃, preferably not more than 80 ℃, otherwise all kinds of trace elements added during granulation will suffer losses, livestock can not be guaranteed feeding needs.

5. Great granule of feed grain pellets should look smooth, moderate hardness, crushing rate should be less than 4%, feed moisture content should be below 10%.

6. You'd better select dry dry-out of the feed machine, because the fodder from such machine, no baking, exposure, cool to room temperature can be used to feed bagging, storage.

Main Structure and Working Principle on Pellet Mill

This machine mainly consists of a feeder, a conditioner and a principal machine of pellet mill (mainly including a main motor, an assembly of rotors, a ring die, press rollers, an assembly of cutting knives, roller adjusting device, a lifting device for the ring die and a lubrication system) (Fig 2.1).

The working procedure is shown as follows:

The mixed mash enters the feeding auger from the pelletizing chamber in a proper feeding amount through adjusting the rotating speed of the frequency control motor, and then enters the conditioner. The material will be sufficiently mixed with steam in the conditioner by stirring paddles of the conditioner, and molasses or oil can be added through the feeding inlet for molasses if necessary. The temperature of conditioned compound mash is normally controlled within 65~95℃ and the humidity 14~18% based on different formulas, and finally the material enters the pelletizing chamber and is pelletized to pellets by the press rollers and the ring die.

Safety Program for Pellet Mill

The pellet mill gate of is provided with a limit switch (1) and a clamp handle (2). When closing the gate of the pellet mill and bringing along the clamp handle, the contact of the limit switch will be pressed by a clamping plate (3) to give a signal to the control circuit for closing the gate, and then the pellet mill may be start end up. The pellet mill cannot be started up as shown in Fig 0.1.


When there is any hard foreign matter entered the pelletizing chamber or when the material flow rate is too high, the pressure between the press rollers and the ring die will exceed the normal working pressure, and then the friction resistance between the press rollers and the ring die will increase.


1. The rotor will drive the main shaft to rotate since the press rollers are installed on the main shaft and the ring die is installed on the rotor.
2. When the torque of the main shaft reaches a certain design value, the sheer force of the safety pin on the safety pin disk installed on the rear end of the main shaft exceeds the sheer force limit of the safety pin, thus the safety pin is sheared off.
3. At this time, the main shaft is rotating and drives the limit switches to act, thus stopping the motor of pelleting machine.
4. The main shaft must be reset and the safety pin must be installed again before restart.

A by-pass door is provided at feeding inlet of pelletizing chamber of pellet mill, if the speed of feeds into ring die is too fast and the feeds deposited are excessive and the motor load increased exceeds the rated value, the pneumatic device will open automatically the by-pass door, the feeds will be discharged from by-pass door; after the motor load is reset normally, the by-pass door will be closed automatically and the machine will continue to operate, see Fig 0.3.


The magnetic separating device between the discharging outlet of the conditioner and inlet of the pellet mill gate is effective for removing iron impurities mixed in materials to protect the ring die and press rollers from damage.
